Before you visit Sunflower Retreats, Casperia, Italy please ensure you enquire about the number of participants attending your retreat as you may be the only one! Not a good experience for someone travelling alone, who was looking forward to spending time with like minded people and meeting new friends.
Very unprofessional of Sunflower not to inform guests of the situation and offer an alternative date, or refund.

We visited sunflower retreat in Casperia in September 2020, and it was an amazing experience. Allan and Lucy are the nicest people and we felt extremely welcome and taken care of. The surroundings of casperia were so beautiful and Casperia is a very charming and old village with an amazing view and sunset! The restaurants in town serve delicious food. We had a holistic treatment including massage and it was wonderful and relaxing. The yoga teachers were great and very knowledgeable. We will most definitely recommend Sunflower retreats to anyone. Ps. Despite of the corona situation, we felt very safe. Everyone kept distance and used hand sanitizers and face masks. But to be honest, we almost forgot about corona while we were there, because it was such a relaxing four days.

We spent a week in Casperia in September 2020 at Sunflower Retreats and had the most relaxing time - thanks to the whole team. The accommodation was really nice, the ancient castle was spacious, we could cook our own meals when we felt like staying in - the kitchen was well equipped - and everything was super tidy. Amazing Pizza and Pasta were served in two different restaurants within easy walking distance. Also vegan options weren‘t a problem at all. After a few days we felt like we knew most of the people living there, they are very very nice and welcoming. And we also made friends with the many supercute cats living there. They actually own and run the town, and probably think it‘s funny that humans haven‘t realized yet.
The daily yoga lessons were amazing, a completely new kind of yoga for us and the teacher Cesare learned us not only new Asanas of a very traditional kind of Hatha Yoga, but also many stories about Indian goddesses and how to awaken the Shakti in ourselves.
Also the treatments were great. Lucy, the owner, has a lot of experience and knowledge in different kinds of treatments (e.g. hot stone massage, ayurvedic massage, reflexology, ...) and creates a very relaxing atmosphere.
All in all, we would absolutely recommend Sunflower Retreats in Casperia and hope to come back soon.

I feel conflicted writing this review as Casperia and Sunflower Retreats are clearly something very unique and special and it could have been a great retreat but it wasn't. I will start with the positives: The town is gorgeous, the views and surrounding nature stunning, the people open and friendly and very helpful, Casa Latini is rustic but nice with lovely views. Now with the unfortunate negatives: we happened to be there during a July heatwave which made the house and sleeping very uncomfortable as there is no air conditioning. We were also attacked by mosquitoes at the otherwise beautiful yoga platform in the forest and at night in our rooms. The mosquitoes made yoga sessions unbearable and unfortunately we had a brand new yoga instructor who had never been there before so she failed to take appropriate leadership of any situation. We as the guests, who were having a break from our daily lives, ended up looking after the young and inexperienced yoga teacher which was not relaxing to say the least. We felt there was very little leadership and were guiding our own retreat to some extent. Other comments: the pool we had access to was stunning though it is a 2km bike ride from the village which in the heatwave was tough. No shampoo or shower soap was provided so we had to buy it at the supermarket. There is only one restaurant in the village so be prepared to cook some of your own meals. Allessandro the lovely driver and helper did take us to a gorgeous restaurant in another village on our last night which we greatly appreciated. Sandra was also kind. This could be a great experience but be prepared to be self sufficient and don't expect high comfort. Also there is no wifi in the accommodation so we couldn't communicate with our families
